Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will receive a mid-season update next week, January 14, and it will be quite meaty. Multiplayer and Zombies will be expanding, with a few new maps and modes for players to dive into.
On the multiplayer side, Fireteam will be getting a new map. Called Sanatorium, it’s described as “an experimental Soviet health retreat” in the Ural plains (via Charlie Intel). It features wooded hills, a main hotel, several structures scattered around the map, and a large wooden dock.
A new mode, called Drop Kick 6v6, is also added. Two teams will compete for a briefcase, with a round starting with both teams racing to a location on the map to collect it. Once the briefcase is picked up, the team carrying it sees its score constantly increase. The briefcase is equipped with a powerful gun, while his teammates try to protect them. There are limited respawns depending on what happens with the briefcase, and the first team to reach 200 points wins.
Meanwhile, Zombies is also getting new modes. Cranked is a limited-time mode, where if you don’t kill a zombie for too long, you’ll literally explode. Additionally, exclusively for PlayStation players, Assault Mode also adds the Raid Map to its playlist.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
